Nomophobia, which is an acronym picked from a phrase, no mobile phobia, is the fear of not having a working mobile phone. It has been considered a symptom of problematic digital media usage in mental health, the definitions of which are not standardized for technical and genetic factors. Nomophobia is usually considered a behavioral addiction, and shares characteristics with drug addiction. The interaction of mobile phones to the Internet is one of the causes of nomophobia. The symptoms of addiction may be the result of a need for comfort due to factors such as rose anxiety, poor self-esteem, insecure attachment, or emotional instability. Some people overuse mobile phones to gain comfort in emotional relationships. I write this as I saw an article about nomophobia according to a research in Tokyo, Japan, in the newspaper. To prevent nomophobia, a lot of measures needed to be considered. Parents should supervise their children's usage of mobile phones. People should be encouraged to do more outdoor activities and activities that do not involve digital media. Thank you.
