If you are going to make it, make it the very best there is......Genichi Kawakami

  Genichi Kawakami was  the president of the Yamaha Corporation from year 1950 to 1977, and again from year 1980 to 1983. He is usually credited with the multinational success of Yamaha and was also immensely influential as a society music educator. Born in Hamakita, Kawakami was a graduate of Takachiho College of Commerce. He embarked working for Yamaha in year 1937, where his father, Kaichi Kawakami had been the president since year 1927. Genichi Kawakami succeeded his father and introduced motorcycle production to Yamaha (Yamaha Motor Corporation). Retired in year 1976, he wrote several books on music and founded the hugest and most renowned system of community music schools in the world. Genichi Kawakami was married to Tamiko and had a son and a daughter. He deceased in Hamamatsu at the age of 90 of natural causes.
