Do you know how our world looked like in ancient times compared to modern days? Here is the answer-----------------In ancient times, technology in the world was considered “worst”. Neither machines nor gadgets were innovated and used. To solve the issue, the only mechanism was by humans’ effort, or animals. If you investigate these scenarios, you might feel awkward, right? If I were in your shoes, the answer would be yes, it was indeed tiresome. But no worries! On the other hand, let’s talk about modern days, or the present. The invention of the latest technologies and machines has vastly expanded. A plethora of devices are presented and utilized, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. This aids in reducing burdens on people and highlights the beauty, power, and benefit of technology.
Here, I am going to talk about one of the most prominent technologies that has become a topic debated these days. It is the ability for computational systems to perform according to human needs, routines, and intelligence, such as learning, working, and more. It is one of the fields in computer science that enhances pathways of study and software development to adapt to diverse environments and utilize intelligence and data to achieve desirable goals. What is it? It is called artificial intelligence, or AI.
Artificial intelligence provides numerous advantages and disadvantages to people globally. What are they? To start, here are the advantages of AI. AI increases efficiency and productivity. It can automate repetitive tasks, freeing human workers to concentrate on more sophisticated and innovative endeavors, just like robots. For instance, robots can help waiters and waitresses serve beverages and delicacies to customers. This demonstrates how outstanding AI is in helping to reduce human burdens. Additionally, AI improves decision-making. It can analyze massive amounts of data to distinguish patterns and make more informed decisions, enhancing progress in studies. For example, tools like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Grok, and Copilot help answer unknown questions for humans. Like Google, they provide immediate information and “teach” humans, increasing their knowledge.
Furthermore, AI helps save costs. It can reduce
operational expenses by automating processes and enhancing efficiency. AI also
enables advanced data analysis, processing and analyzing vast datasets to
uncover insights and trends that might be missed by humans. Moreover, AI
fosters new insights and innovations, assisting researchers in discovering new
knowledge and developing creative solutions to difficult problems.
On the other hand, AI has disadvantages. It can lead to job displacement. As AI becomes more prevalent, it risks automating jobs traditionally performed by humans, causing many workers to face unemployment challenges. This is why studies in computer science focusing on AI are essential to mitigate unemployment issues. Furthermore, ethical concerns arise with AI. It can exhibit biases based on the data it is trained on, leading to unfair or discriminatory outcomes. Occasionally, AI may provide false or misleading information to humans, which can undermine trust and encourage dishonest practices in work scenarios. For example, some workers may use AI to cheat their employers by presenting extraordinary excuses for tasks they should perform themselves. This results in a lack of human intuition, transparency, and emotional intelligence, as AI may fail to understand human feelings, accountability, or intuitive decision-making. Finally, privacy and security risks are heightened. AI systems often require access to personal data, raising concerns about privacy and security, and they can be vulnerable to hacking and other malicious threats.
To sum up, after reviewing the pros and cons of AI mentioned above, AI may steal my dream job if abused or used in unsuitable scenarios. However, there is one clue that it will make jobs better—if utilized properly. Thus, I suggest cherishing AI’s presence today to thrive for a desirable future.
